Amburghese di cuore by Ryuta Nakajima, 2013, digital photograph
Our world’s oceans are in a critical state. Increasing average water temperature has already started to shift various ecological zones and biomasses and have damaged large areas of coral reefs. In addition, plastic and chemical contamination, acidification of the water, over fishing, and many more challenges face the oceans. My work, Amburghese di cuore, is a photograph of a cuttlefish fusing with traditional and religious artifacts. I am hoping to represent how important it is to integrate and fuse both humanity and nature to create a new consciousness that allows us to reunite as a part of nature.
