Racing With The Wind by Joan Wheeler, 2015, oil painting
The ocean is eternal — waves crashing, tides going in and out, and seagulls swooping. Watching this always makes me think about what eternity means to me. I believe that the past, present, and future co-exist on some plane, outside of our conscious awareness. This oil painting honors my dear sister Anne, who was hit by a car and killed at a young age. I picture her at peace, at one with animals and nature, traveling freely across the ocean, racing with the wind.
