The Plastic Bag Project by Danielle Baudrand, 2016, over 6,000 plastic bags and packaging braided and crocheted over a four-year period

As a mother, artist and environmental activist, I felt compelled to do something that would bring attention to the impacts that plastic pollution is having on our oceans. My most recent work The Plastic Bag Project uses the repeated process of braiding and crocheting over 6,000 plastic bags and packaging together over a four year period to make one long chain that continues to grow like the problem of plastic pollution. The project travels around the US teaching different communities about their disposable waste footprint and its impacts on the planet.
